Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
If you are not using insurance or are choosing to pay out of pocket (self-pay), you are entitled to receive an estimate of the expected charges for psychotherapy services before your appointment. You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services or at any time.
The estimate will include expected costs for sessions and any related services. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill.
